Sunday Riley C.E.O. Protect + Repair Moisturizer Review
I love talking beauty products, especially the ones that will help you achieve good skin are always a major topic of discussion. The one thing that always comes to me and out of many of the conversations is it’s something everyone can have and achieve as long as we are all clear that there are levels to it! One skincare company that believes this as well and does an excellent job at making good skin a reality for those that were not born with it, those who have lost it, and for those that are just trying to maintain it is Sunday Riley.
Their skincare products have legions of fans that sing their praise and a cult-like following. I must say, I am also a huge fan as well. I was introduced to the brand back when they did makeup, and it’s been a lovefest ever since. My current favorite products from Sunday Riley are the Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner and Good Genes. However, their collection of Vitamin C focused products are very nice and have quickly joined my collection. The one product thatI fell have for is the C.E.O. C + E antiOXIDANT Protect + Repair Moisturizer, In case you were wondering where the C.E.O comes from or what it means; it’s because it contains Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Antioxidants.
C.E.O. Protect + Repair Moisturizer
This cream moisture does for individuals that suffer from dry skin, what their first moisturizing cream, Tidal, did for those with oily skin – changed the game! CEO is a thick hydrating moisturizer containing high-potency Vitamin C that is anti-aging while also being a powerful antioxidant! One of the first things you will notice besides the pleasant scent is how wonderful the cream feels. The wow factor with this product comes by way of the type of Vitamin C it is using, Tetrahexydecyl Ascorbate (THD ascorbate). Considered to be the gold standard form of Vitamin C, THD ascorbate is the newer, clinically-proven, oil-soluble derivative of Vitamin C, which is supposed to penetrate better into the skin.
Upon scooping it out the jar the very first time, it was thick and luxurious feeling. It felt incredibly hydrating, and my skin loved it! Since it is a thicker cream and my skin is more oily right now, I decided to use it as a part of my nighttime routine. So I use it as more of a night cream, and I love it. After only a week of use, my skin felt softer, and I had a beautiful glow. This has only gotten better the more I use it.
The only downside is I was forced to make a few skincare routine and makeup adjustments in order to reap the full benefits of the moisturizer. Because it is very thick and rich, I had to apply the moisturizer at least an hour before putting on my makeup in the morning (so it could fully sink into the skin) and even after that, my foundation application had to be very light. If not, I just felt like I had a ton of gunk on my face. I apply it at night as well but prefer a daytime application, so I can rock an all day glow. These small tweaks were completely worth it and are a small price to pay for beautiful skin.
Additional Thoughts
- I am not a huge fan of it being housed in a glass jar. I get that this form of Vitamin C is suppose to be very stable against oxygenation, but what about the exposure to the air and the possibly of losing potency? I would love to see it go to a different design in the future.
- If you have oily skin, I would suggest using this in the evening only. However, if you do use it in the day, I would recommend using a minuscule amount.
- Make sure you are following up with you SPF, which should be something you are already doing daily.
- You should go to your local Sephora and request a sample to try it for yourself if you still aren’t quite sure if it’s for you.
Until soon…Toodles
